Many new patients often ask me what my main treatments are, so I thought it would be useful to dedicate a blog post on how a Bristol Osteopath can help you in 2022.
The starting point is to outline what is osteopathy, and the ways in which Bristol Osteopaths help patients.
Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy which can help with a variety of issues, mainly musculoskeletal problems.
A good osteopath in Bristol will be patient-focused, applying a holistic, whole-body approach to diagnosing and then treating musculoskeletal injuries.
Osteopaths in Bristol would aim to diagnose and treat injuries and/or imbalances in the body that could result in pain and disablement.
Osteopathic treatments aim to find the root cause of problems and not just target and treat an injured area of the body.
Sometimes, this can involve working an area of the body that seems distant and unrelated to the immediate problem or injury.

As an osteopath in Bristol, I look to promote health in body tissues, balance a patient's body and remove any barriers or blockages to the body's natural healing processes.

I was spurred on to become a Bristol Osteopath because of a love of sport, and as a rugby player at a competitive level I often needed treatment myself.
I also wanted to join the medical profession, and to help people. My interest has always been musculoskeletal injuries.
While researching different types of manual therapy, I began reading about the principles and ethos of Osteopathy. It really struck a chord with me, especially the focus on using manual therapy to assist patients.
I trained at the British School of Osteopathy (hyperlink with https://www.uco.ac.uk/) in the early 90s and qualified in 1996. I've been working in Osteopathic practice for more than 25 years.
How can Alex Prince Osteopathy help you in 2022?
At my Bristol-based Osteopathy clinic in Henleaze, I help patients from all walks of life, of all ages, and suffering from a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.
I work with a huge range of patients, from new-born babies to the elderly, from sedentary office workers to active builders, from less active patients to highly-active elite athletes.
What are the most common problem areas a Bristol Osteopath can treat?
I typically help patients with the following problems:
* Back and neck pain
* Headaches and sinus problems
* Nerve irritation (including sciatic pain)
* Arthritis
* Shoulder and arm pain
* Leg, ankle and foot pain
Patients often come to my Henleaze Osteopathy clinic because of my expertise and interest in:
* Sports injuries
* Postural issues and desk-related problems
* Cranial osteopathy for infants, children and adults
Not all problems are suitable for osteopathic treatment and some may need referral to other medical specialists, doctors, consultants or surgeons.
In my osteopathic experience, I'm able to recommend an appropriate onward referral for a patient if additional assistance is required for a patient.
I also have an extensive library of Bristol Osteopath News discussing in detail various osteopathic treatments, patient case studies and much more.
